Our voice teachers primarily focus on popular music/show tunes/classical or Christian music. If you have always wanted to be a better singer, we have the right voice teachers for you. Our voice faculty will create a voice lesson program based on your musical interests and vocal range. Voice students spend time each week doing physical exercises to improve their vocal range, ear training, breath control, vibrato, tone production, enunciation, and more. All voice students set goals with their teacher to work on sounding their best and developing their own unique voice. For young beginner voice students: it is better to take piano lessons first and learn how to read music before you learn voice. It is easier to learn to do voice if you already know how to read music. If this suggestion does not fit your needs, we recommend a $25 trial lesson evaluation. This is a way we can assess a student’s skill, set them up to have an awesome musical experience, and progress as quickly as possible. About Vocal Music
The earliest form of music known to man is vocal music. Before 900 A.D., vocal music was not written down. It was sung from person to person, often transmitting vital information about history and culture. In the Middle Ages, vocal music started its evolution into modern form. With the European Renaissance beginning in the 14th Century, Western vocal music expanded from monotonal chant to increasingly complex song structures and harmonies. Singing with instrumental accompaniment rose to prominence.
As harmonies and musical structures evolved in European-influenced countries, so did songs. Vocal music expanded into the theater in the form of the opera, a musical play. Composers also wrote songs to be performed in the concert hall. Contemporary vocal music in European-influenced countries such as the United States has its roots in the Western tradition, which includes concepts such as musical notation on a five-line staff, an eighth-note musical octave and harmonies based on major and minor scales.

Excellent Student Achievement and Reward System
The “Star Music Masters” awards program developed by our Music Director Mrs. Giles, is exclusive to LSSM students only. The “Star Masters” achievement program increases students' engagement during lessons and progress provides great motivation for goal attainment. Each student will receive a trophy once a year based on their level.
The “Galaxy Music Program” (created by Music Director Mrs. Giles) is a fun, voluntary program for student lesson progress. Musicians receive their galaxy medal when they’ve reached eleven levels of performance and they are rewarded with a party. This program is exclusively for students of LSSM.
Funny Money (created by Music Director Mrs. Giles) is a fun game that inspires students to practice daily without the pressure. The more you practice, the more funny money you earn.
100 Days of Practice – This fun incentive program challenges our students to practice for 100 consecutive days. Students who practice for 100 consecutive days receive a medal at their pizza party! Students are able to celebrate together and make new friends!
Super Star Program - (for all ages) when participating in this program, students will be given a letter of outstanding achievement to present to their school or teacher.
Composer Circle- Students join the composer circle when they’ve written or arranged their own song. They receive a medal in the recitals and attend our fun pizza party to celebrate their success.
LSSM – Early Childhood Music Classes
The Music for Little Mozart’s program is a fun and exciting 45 minute group piano class for 4-6 year old’s that is written to provide appropriate piano instruction for young beginners while simultaneously developing listening skills. Our preschoolers really learn how to play the piano. See Little Mozart program.
Open 6 Days a Week for Today’s Busy Parents
Lawrenceville-Suwanee School of Music offers music lessons in piano, guitar, violin, viola, voice/singing, flute, cello, drums, clarinet, flute, art, Greek instruments and more! We are open six days a week to accommodate your busy schedule. Music lessons are billed monthly with no semester commitment.
Student Discount Vouchers
We are the only music school that consistently helps you save money on your books and supplies throughout the year. We also make it easy and convenient by offering music books and accessories in both locations. All of our current students receive a 10% student discount on all retail. If two siblings enroll, you will receive a 20% discount; three siblings, 30%; four siblings, 40%, and so on. These discounts will continue for the entire duration of your enrollment at LSSM. Amazing Art Classes!
Every week our students are growing and increasing their skill level in their ability to create various styles of art. They are exploring the “Art for Fun” class that introduces them to many forms of art, or they are having a ball learning how to draw their favorite cartoons in our “Cartoon Art Class.” What versatility, to have one child taking piano and another child in the art class down the hall.
