FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
WHAT DO YOU LEARN IN YOUR MUSIC LESSONS?
That question is often asked by prospective students. Our teachers make it a priority to get to know you on a personal level and to become familiar with your musical needs and goals. We do not teach every student similarly, we teach to the individual! For example: A seven year old in their first guitar lesson will have very different needs than a fifty-seven year old taking piano for the 2nd time.
The main reason to choose Lawrenceville-Suwanee School of Music as your music lesson provider, is that we are sensitive to the fact that every student is an individual. We will work with you to make a plan that will fit your needs and musical preferences. Your teacher will ask you about your favorite type of music, and set goals to help accomplish your musical aspirations.
WHAT STYLES OF MUSIC DO YOU TEACH?
We teach all styles from rock, pop, jazz, country, blues and classical.
ARE YOUR INSTRUCTORS QUALIFIED?
Our teachers have received their education from various prestigious institutions (see profile). Our instructors have many years of professional performance and teaching experience. In addition to their teaching credentials, our teachers have warm personalities, are extremely friendly, and strive to get to know each student and their parents on a personal level. They truly love teaching. We also insure the safety of our students by having all our teachers present an extensive background check prior to being hired. We want your child to be taught well, while feeling safe and cared for; making their musical experience memorable and enjoyable.
WILL THE TEACHERS COME TO MY HOME?
We have teachers that will come to your home. Rate or cost of in-house visit depends on location and time frame.
WILL MY CHILD LEARN HOW TO WRITE THEIR OWN MUSIC?
We love composition. We encourage students to write their own music in the beginning stages of their music training. Each year we highlight all of our composers at the recital. They perform one of their compositions. By doing so, they are now able to join the “Composers Circle”. They receive a medal for their musical selection. Composition is taught as a part of their regular music lessons. We had one of our music students to receive a $3000.00 scholarship for a piece he wrote. Exciting!
